Relics is a multidisciplinary art festival with an interest in creative and wayward talent! The former slaughterhouse of Antwerp is the stage of this place of creative resurrection. Expect a spicy mix of music, poetry, paintings, photography, documentaries, visual art, performances and fashion! Young artists of different backgrounds will show you their projects in this unique industrial setting and... in a boxing arena! The organisation of the festival collaborates with the boxing academy of the European boxing champion Sugar Jackson. Besides enjoying the arts, you can participate in a workshop boxing given by Sugar’s coach.

Photography, visual arts and fashion exhibition

The doors of the festivals open on Saturday October 27th at 2pm. From then on, you can indulge in several works from young photographers, painters, fashion designers, documentary makers and other visual artists. The exhibition will continue on Sunday October 28th from 1pm onwards

Music and poetry, side by side

After the workshop boxing, on Saturday October 27th, the boxing arena will service as the platform for young poets and musicians. On Saturday you can enjoy live music as from 4pm, from humble acoustic tunes to loud and noisy rock. Between the shows, poets will engage you in their deepest souls with their spoken word. The headliner of the evening is Kapitan Korsakov, a noisy rock band from Ghent who made early appearances on the Pukkelpop and Dour festival.  After their show, the after party will be powered by three dj’s, playing an eclectic mix of soul, indie and other music full of good vibes!

Surfing through the website www.relicskunstenfestival.be, you can listen to the bands and discover what you can expect from the other artists.

Theatre and handcrafts market

On Sunday, things slow down a bit. The music Academy of Berchem will bring a short but varied programme of Irish, English and Peruvian folk music. After this, you can stroll among the creations of young designers at the Young designer & crafts market. You can also go and watch a theatrical performance in one of the halls of the former slaughterhouse. At the end of the afternoon, the ‘murga parade’ Lamorgaga will cheer things up, combining Latin American vibes, dance and theatre.
