WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTH?
Summer in Antwerp is well known for its pop up culture, especially in the north of the city where you’ll notice this phenomenon everywhere! This area, called ‘t Eilandje by locals which literally means ‘little island’, has some great new hot spots that we would love to share with you. Some of them are only there for a short notice, but others are here to stay. In any way, if you’re city tripping in Antwerp, you can’t leave without stopping by these great places.
Het_Eiland is a pop up event space and bar. The place already hosted a design market, an exhibition and a vinyl record store curated by Arno lemmens, the vinyl record lover we interviewed a few months ago. You can also join the quiz nights or dance during the special tribute nights, where a great artist gets honored the whole night.

Jardim is a pop up bar where you have this ultimate summer feeling. A DJ that gives you some fine house or techno beats, a cocktail in your hand and sand between your toes. And if you think it couldn’t get any better, there’s more. Jardim’s neighbor across the street is Club Vaag, so start early at Jardim and party ‘til the sun comes up at Club Vaag. It’s as sweet as when Ben met Jerry!

A meat lover will definitely love this one. Lazy Jack is a lounge slash restaurant. The lounge corner has comfy couches and armchairs. The restaurant serves grilled meat and fish. The menu is set up by catering service Silverspoon and the well-known butcher team De Laet & Van Haver. Think dry aged entrecote, gambas à la plancha or Tartare Piemontese.
Here’s the whole menu for you to really start drooling.

They call themselves a daytime canteen with fresh food, juices and great coffee. The place used to be a warehouse where the Red Star Line passengers’ luggage was stored for safekeeping. There’s no surprise here that the Red Star Museum is just a few meters away. So, if you were already planning to go to the museum, make sure you take a break at SANBA! Or just drop by to catch them living room like vibes we wrote about earlier.
