As you know, March 8 was a celebration of women-hood, not only nationwide but around the globe. Since we have a few amazing powerful women living in our city, we thought that this would be the perfect time to write about one of them.

The Boss woman that we interviewed last week, is not only a new upcoming talent, extremely funny and freaking hawttt, she most certainly screams POWERLADY when you hear her work.

Her name is Mel Ross and trust me when I tell you that this is a name you will not forget!

Although she’s not Antwerp-bred , She’s been living in our city for the last seven years with her boo, (who is a known figure in the Urban scene) so we can call her a trueAntwerpianat heart. She even has some favourite hotspots such as the empanada bar or café au lait.

When her man who goes by the name Sem Phi, decided to bring out a solo album 3 years ago, she did some vocals and afterwards decided it was time to create her own project! ‘Cause that’s what we boss women do you know.

Next week , the 15thof March she will have her first EP – which is called MelRoss place (punintented) - release party and damn son  we cant wait to hear her stuff! The album can already be bought online, so for those who can’t wait, buy buy buy!!

The location of the event will be Permeke, which is ideal if you think about the multi cultural  aspect of the entire Urban scene. The other performers are also incredibly good female artists so make sure you mark the date in your schedule  and go support your local female heroes!

Go to her facebook page and check out her tracks if you need more convincing! I can’t wait to hear her tracks live and vibe to her music!

See you guys there!
