While exploring the interesting quarter Seefhoek, in the north of Antwerp, I noted at Kerkplein a place which looked very nice: Brasserie Duval. So one evening I decided to go out for dinner and have a look. After that I went back there many times, because this restaurant not only seems nice, but has, once discovered, a lot to offer.
In the same beautiful Art Nouveau building where used to be restaurant Tati, Brasserie Duval opened doors with a slightly different look: simple, cozy and tasteful. The owner of the place is a charming young guy from Antwerp, named Johan Peeters, whose dream has become reality by opening his own restaurant. The atmosphere is clearly filled with his ambition and enthusiasm, the staff is very friendly and the chef must be one of great talent.
The choice of the menu is very well-balanced, and changes with the changing of the seasons: for each starter and main course you can choose between two vegetarian, two fish and two meat dishes, all of them surprisingly refined and original. As to the wine, there are always four different opened bottles of red and white, - which change regularly - so they won’t need to spill. As you can hear, these are conscious people working. Important as well: seen the quality of food and drinks, the prices are pleasing.
If you’re up to a beautiful evening at Antwerp 2060, have some dinner at Duval’s and enjoy this wonderful dynamic place!
