Who believes that the soundtrack of Lisbon only consists of Fado has not recently visited the Portuguese capital! Terrakota is one of the most important upcoming young bands in the musica mestiça scene. Influenced by the growing cultural diversity in Lisbon, Terrakota brings a mix of sounds from the old Portuguese colonies like Angola, Cape Verde, Brazil and Mozambique combined with everything that makes the modern world music so exciting.
The band was formed in 1999 but their real breakthrough came in 2007 with their album "Oba Train". Their latest album "World Massala" (2010) showed the musical growth of the band.
With their unique mix of Mbalax, Funana, Samba, Reggae, Afro-Cuba, Gnawa, Afrobeat, Desert Blues, Batuque Flamenco, Maracatu, Rap en Chimurenga they still turn every venue upside down!
