Are you ready for a surprising and exciting arts festival? From the 16th of October until the 31st Mestizo Arts Festival will set foot on Antwerp ground again. The festival brings you a new wave of artists with their own view on cities of the future. You can expect an artistic experiment and a mix of theatre, music, dance and image. #MAF15 will show you what is going on in the big cities, with artists from Antwerp, Buenos Aires and Mexico. Every year the festival welcomes more than thousand people. The festival is organised for the 8th time, and the theme of this year is “The Wall”.

The Political Wall

Aja Monet (US) is a poet and performer from Brooklyn. She won the legendary Nuyorican Poet’s Café competition in New York. She combines her extraordinary voice with her imagination on the stage. Rafeef Ziadah is a Palestinian refugee and activist who currently lives in London. She is well known by her poems “Shades of Anger” and “We teach life, sir”. Grada Kilomba is a Portuguese writer, theorist and interdisciplinary artist. Her work draws on gender, race, trauma and memory. Currently she is a writer/artist in residence in Berlin where she is developing a series of projects on ‘Decolonizing Knowledge – Performing Knowledge’ (2015-2017), using writing, performative narrative and visual art as forms of alternative knowledge production. These tree powerful women will pierce the political wall with their words at #MAF15.
